In South Australia your cat has to be desexed and microchipped, and some councils set curfews through their own by-laws. An enclosure lets your cat spend time outside without roaming.

We sell the netting and portable enclosures that do the job, and if you'd rather have it built, local installers around Adelaide use our netting.

Build it yourself, or have it built?

Portable enclosure

A freestanding enclosure goes together without drilling, so it suits renters and anyone who might move.

From $260 to $1,120

Net your own space

Close in a patio, side path or part of the yard with netting by the metre. The DIY cat run builder works out what you need.

Netting from $6.58 a metre

Have it installed

A local installer will measure up and quote. Prices depend on the job, so it's worth asking two.

Portable cat enclosures

Catnets doesn't install, but we work with these local businesses to make sure our netting goes up correctly and the job is done well. Contact them directly for a measure and quote.

Adelaide's cat rules

Under South Australia's Dog and Cat Management Act 1995, cats must be desexed and microchipped (unless exempt) and recorded on Dogs and Cats Online. Councils can make their own by-laws, and some use them to set curfews (Dog and Cat Management Board).

In the City of Adelaide you don't register your cat, and cats born after 1 July 2018 must be desexed (City of Adelaide).

Questions we get from Adelaide

Can I use a portable enclosure in a rental?

Yes. Our portable enclosures stand on their own and need no drilling, so nothing is fixed to the property.

How much netting do I need?

Measure the space and put the sizes into the DIY cat run builder, which works out the netting and fixings.

Will a portable enclosure stand up to wind?

A portable enclosure shouldn't blow over. If you live in a windy spot, you can peg the frame to the ground, or weigh it down with sand bags if it sits on a hard surface. Read the help article.
