Online store questions

Orders are generally shipped the same or next business day. Please be aware delivery times may be longer during the Christmas and New Year period which is out of our control.

Standard delivery times:

  • Sydney / Canberra / Melbourne / Brisbane : 1 to 2 days
  • Country NSW / VIC / QLD: 3 days
  • North QLD : 4-5 days
  • Adelaide : 2 days
  • Perth & Tasmania: 5 days
  • New Zealand: 5 days

Obviously the delivery time can vary, especially in rural or remote areas.... So please use the above as a guide only.

Following promotions and peak time (spring/summer), in rare cases dispatch may be 2+ days.  If there is to be any extended delay on an order for any reason, you will be contacted via email or phone.

Express post or express courier may be available, however it must be organised manually with one of our staff vie phone or email. Please note that these shipping costs can be significantly higher as although a product may be light, express shipments are calculated on volumetric size.

As a result of increased demand, COVID related supply delays and shipping line disruptions a number of popular items are currently set to “Pre-Order” on our website.

This essentially means that you are purchasing the goods now, but it won’t be shipped until the goods arrive here from our overseas suppliers. All products are labelled with an “Estimated” Date of arrival (ETA) to give you a guide as to when we hope to ship your order. The advantage of Pre-ordering your goods is to ensure you can receive them… as in recent months many products have been all pre-sold before they arrive here into our warehouse.

In these unprecedented times however, the shipping times have been unfortunately unpredictable, and the ETA’s can change. We continue to monitor the situation daily and  adjust the ETA’s on the website as required.

Please be aware there is absolutely no obligation to keep your pre-order should we experience delays, should you simply find a suitable product elsewhere or even just change your mind. All you need to do is email us your Order Number and we will process the refund immediately.

To help you receive your pre-order as soon as possible, we will be shipping all  Pre-orders either via Courier or Express post instead of regular post.

Priority dispatch GUARANTEES your order will be dispatched with 1 business day from ordering. During peak periods, this helps you to "Jump-the-Queue" and ensure your order is dispatched as a priority. Please note that it does NOT mean it is being sent via Express, it will just ensure it is dispatched as a priority. Priority dispatch is $10, and is available as an option during checkout.

Haverford Pty Ltd uses a range of carriers, utilising different services for different sizes parcels and different locations. Our staff determine the most appropriate service to suit your order. As a general rule, couriers are used throughout metropolitan areas and for larger orders, Australia Post is used for rural areas, and DHL is used for international orders.

Every order we send has item TRACKING, so you can track the progress of your delivery. If you have a specific courier requirement simply enter it in the special instructions section of the website checkout.

If you are not likely to be home at the time of delivery you have two options:

  1. Have the courier driver leave a failed to deliver card. You will then need to contact the freight company and reschedule delivery for a suitable time OR collect it from your local post office (if sent via Australia Post)
  2. You can request the driver to “Leave” the parcel in a safe place such as at the front door or through the side gate. You can give your “Authority to Leave” in the special instructions section of the website checkout.
Shipping

We ship throughout all of Australia & New Zealand, with shipping also available to other international locations upon request. All orders are sent from our warehouse in Sydney, NSW.

Our online shopping cart will automatically calculate your freight cost based on your order size and your location.

Importantly, the shopping cart will show you the freight cost BEFORE you have committed to the purchase. Our volume ensures we receive excellent shipping rates from most carriers, and we don’t charge any additional handling or processing fees.

As all goods are shipped from our Australian Warehouse, import duties and taxes may be payable on large orders.

New Zealand customs does not collect Duty and GST where the total revenue payable on  any one importation is less than $60. Therefore, generally orders under a value of approx NZ$350 won't have any payable amount upon arrival.

    Example 1: (standard size order)

Goods Ordered: Sports netting: NZ$200       Duty on Netting at 5% : NZ$10       Freight: $50

    Total Value $260

    15% GST at $260 = $39.

As this amount is less than $60 there is no amount payable and your order will be shipped  to your door or Post Office with nothing else to pay.

    Example 2: (large order)

Goods Ordered: Bird netting: NZ$406         Duty on Netting at 5% : NZ$20.30         Freight: $50

    Total Value $476.30

    15% GST at $476.30 = $71.45

As this amount is greater than $60 there is an amount payable to NZ Customs. You will be contacted upon the goods entering the country, and once paid the order will be released to you. There will also be an import entry transaction fee of NZ$38.07 (GST   inclusive) payable.

    Pricing

At Catnets you are dealing directly with the importer. Catnets.com.au is operated as a trading business of one of Australia’s largest netting importers, Haverford Pty Ltd.  The business was established in 1888, and has supplied netting for events including the Sydney 2000 Olympics, Taronga Zoo and Expo '88. Our bulk buying power, along with the fact that you are dealing direct with the importer, ensure we can supply nets at low prices. Despite our commitment to fair and reasonable pricing, we will not compromise on quality. We continually test, assess and attempt to improve our nets to ensure they are of the utmost quality.

On average, D.I.Y  installations cost less than half of those fully installed. The majority of self installations cost less than $250. Catnets  provide all our pricing online, as we are confident we have the lowest prices available. Our standard netting price is $4.00 per square metre, and we have bulk and monthly specials available online.

Our standard low-vis netting is $4.00 per square metre. The key is per “SQUARE” metre. We’ve just taken the “square-metre” calculation out of the equation for you, so all you need to do is enter how many meters you need of a certain width and we take care of the rest. As an example, you wouldn’t expect to pay the same price for 10m of the 1.8m wide netting, as you would for 10m of the 5m wide netting. We have pre-calculated the equation in the shopping cart, and all you need to do is enter how many lineal metres  of a certain width net you need. It is best demonstrated by an example: Customer requires 10m x 3m of netting 10 x 3 = 30 Square Metres 30 square metres at $4.00 = $120 In the shopping cart, the 3m width shows up at ($12.00 per lineal metre) $12.00 x 10m = $120.00 So indeed it is $4.00 per square metre… We’ve just taken the Square metre calculation out of the equation for you, so all you need to do is enter how many meters you need of a certain width and we take care of the rest.

Yes we have a range of BULK size rolls for several of our items: Netting: Bulk rolls in a range of sizes with prices as low as $2 per square metre Rope: Bulk 50m Rolls Wire: Bulk 100m Rolls Fence brackets: Discount for Boxes of 10

      Net Installation

Catnets.com.au does not currently offer an installation service. If you require a measure and quote for an installation, we suggest you try the following businesses or individuals across Australia. These installers use Catnets netting and you can see some examples of their work on their individual profile pages. You can contact them directly to organise a measure and quote. Recommended installers list We must emphasise that these contacts are not employees of catnets.com.au, and a purely a referral from us for a local business in your area. However unlikely, we cannot accept any responsibility for any installation or quotation related issues. Please ensure you clearly clarify your requirements and sale conditions with the listed businesses before proceeding.

Catnets.com.au does not currently offer an installation service. If you require a measure and quote for an installation in an area that is not covered by any of our recommended installers, we suggest you discuss your options with a local handyman or builder. Most handymen will have the required tools and skill required to install your cat enclosure. We recommend you print and show them our FREE downloadable D.I.Y information guide, to give them a basic idea of the concept and the materials involved.

The best place to start would be by reading our FREE downloadable D.I.Y information guide, and by viewing some previous DIY projects in our image galleries.

        Product

Netting is an ideal material for use as a cat enclosure. It has many benefits including the following: It is very versatile and easy to work with. Netting can be cut to size, shaped around corners and used to fill small holes. It doesn't require any special tools, doesn't involve any heavy lifting, welding or building experience to install. It is affordable. With our netting available at just $4.00 per square metre, netting is the best option for large areas that wouldn't otherwise be enclosable. Most Catnets DIY enclosures cost well under $250. It is strong and long lasting. Our specialised cat netting is designed to last. It is UV treated for outdoor use, has heat strengthened knots and is pre-stretched to avoid sagging. It looks fantastic! Netting (especially our low-vis netting) is barely noticeable once installed. Wire cage enclosures can have a heavy, dominant and overpowering appearance, whereas a low-vis netting enclosure looks subtle and soft. Unlike wire cages, the netting won't get hot-to-touch in the hot summer heat. Won't get caught by the wind like shadecloth. Is airy, and allows you cat to keep cool in the summer months. Unlike wire cages, there are no sharp and DANGEROUS edges that are prone to rust

Catnets supplies the highest quality cat netting available, and as a result is the  chosen wholesale supplier of 25+ installers and resellers throughout Australia & New Zealand. Our netting manufacturer is an ISO certified company, and we  personally inspect the facilities on a regular basis to ensure quality is of the upmost importance. Our high quality netting is strong, long lasting & designed to last in the harsh Australian outdoors. Our nets are UV treated to the maximum percentage without degrading the strength of the netting. More than that, the nets are also regularly tested in an accredited "Accelerated UV Testing facility". The netting is also "Pre-Stretched" to tension, with Heat-Strengthened Knots. This process is critical when used as a cat net, as it helps avoid stretching and sagging of your net over time. Through many years of testing, 19mm has been determined to be the maximum hole size that is safe for cats.  Catnets brand netting is the ideal choice for your cat enclosure: High abrasion resistance High  breaking strains UV treated "and tested" Prestretching to tension to avoid sagging Maximum 19mm mesh size

Just let us know your delivery address and we'll mail you out some samples straight away. We are very confident in our product, so we are more than happy to send you out some samples for inspection.

Our Low-Vis Black is the most popular colour. As black doesn’t reflect light well, it tends to disappear when installed tight in a backyard environment. For specific light coloured environments, we also offer stone/beige coloured netting. (In selected sizes only).

Yes. Most sizes are available by-the-metre. We also have discounted bulk rolls for larger projects, resellers and installers.

You have a few options in this case: You can consider one of our Freestanding Portable enclosures. They can be taken down and moved to your new property, and require no permanent attachments. They come up to 5.4m long, which is a significant space, even for numerous cats. You can contact one of our recommended installer contacts who often have some creative solutions for your space that doesn’t involve any drilling. The wire rope systems we supply to frame up installations create very minimal impact to your property, and can be removed with very low damage to your surfaces. It may be an option for you to show the systems we have to your owner/body corporate for them to consider.

Research has shown that the overwhelming majority of incidents involving cats occur at night. These studies have also shown that cats restricted at night live up to 3 years longer on average. Contrary to popular belief, cats can live and enjoy a happy and healthy life when properly contained within the backyard. Catnets.com.au is a major supplier of cat netting throughout Australia. Based out of our two warehouses in Sydney, catnets.com.au offers a range of D.I.Y products, along with a series of recommended installation businesses across Australia. By enclosing your cat you can help eliminate risk of the following issues: Injured in fights Hit by cars Become lost Catch diseases Neighbourhood nuisence issues Legal requirements Wildlife safety

Although occasionally used for Dog containment by our customers, this netting has been designed for use by cats only and is not covered for damage resulting from Dogs or other animals housed in OR outside of the enclosure.

No, unlike common fruit tree netting, the mesh is set on the square with small 19mm x 19mm holes. The square mesh combined with the tension of installed netting, prevents the netting from twisting or distorting when impacted or landed on, which prevents tangles.

Safety: Due to the size of the netting squares, Catnets recommend kittens (6 months and under) should not be left unattended for prolonged periods within the enclosure. In regards to cat enclosures safety in general, it is advised that all netting is installed as taut as practically possible.
